Today Mr. Hudnut officially announced the Fellowship. I have to say, I’m glad… it isn’t too much fun keeping things from your friends, even if it’s for the sake of surprise.
On that note, I’d like to thank everyone who congratulated me today. It means the world to get a sincere congratulations and to know that someone thinks you’re doing something worthwhile. I feel quite lucky to go to a school where the community, on the whole, cares about its fellow members.
And, on that note, I’d like to thank you, the reader. If you’re a friend, a teacher, or just someone who’s interested, thank you for taking the time to read this. I plan on pouring a lot of thought and effort into this, and reading it (even in passing) is meaningful.
Finally, and most importantly, a thank you to Mr. Hudnut for making this trip possible. Thank you for giving me your blessing (monetary and otherwise), and I hope this site will give you a good way to keep tabs on the project’s progress, as I plan on updating it diligently.
All that said, time for logistics: I’m going to be in Japan with fellow Harvard-Westlake student Adam Rothman and my girlfriend from June 10th to June 24th. Adam will be leaving on June 17th, and then I’ll be staying until the 24th as I try to get a grip on Japanese. I know many of you are looking for news on my trip to Man, but I’ll be having lots of adventures in Japan, too, and I’ll be updating this regularly with news from the trip.
From July 7th to July 24th, I’ll be on Man working on the Fellowship. I’m staying at King William’s College, a high school on the Island, and I’ll be working at (and with) the Centre for Manx Studies in Douglas, Isle of Man. Language won’t be my only project there, either, as I’ll also be: taking pictures, going on archaeological digs with the King William students (looking for Viking artifacts), and exploring.
I hope you all will stay tuned! Actual updates on Japan, Man, and their respective languages will ensue.
